Developing a project from an idea is very scary and has a lot of variables.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Challenge

Develop an app capable of exchanging minutes, data and messages globally.

Solution

Scoped the challenge, created a team, and developed an MVP along with the branding and a landing website.

Process

The starting point for this was to define what the product was. What we wanted to accomplish and what we would call a success. We had investors lined up so we also needed to take their wishes into account.

Setting up the team and dividing responsibilities was next. After that it was the drawing board, getting interviews, and doing a whole bunch of research. Developing an MVP the investors requested was maybe the hardest because we had to negotiate with telecommunications companies.

In the end, we managed to create a proper landing page, and develop the mobile app in react native to fit Android and iOS.

Biggest challenge to overcome

The biggest challenge was UX research, it was hard to get people to talk to and interview. It was hard to test the hypothesis and validate the solution.

In the end, it came down to reaching out to friends of friends of friends that fit the target market - because we wanted to be sure. We did manage to get people for interviews by promising them sweet deals when the app goes live.

The app never went live as when we finished the MVP the EU came down with the law that removed roaming fees between EU countries.
